With support from Google, Trigger presents Brainwash, the agency’s first game built for the Google Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max. Brainwash is a puzzle game where users come up with words that connect flashing images. It is fully playable with voice only; natural language processing allows users to navigate menus and play the game through spoken commands.
To launch the experience, users say “Play Brainwash puzzle” to their Google Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max. They will be greeted by M.I.N.D., a mysterious AI narrator who guides the user through menus and during gameplay. After selecting a round to play, six images will rapidly flash across the screen. Users shout their best guesses for a word that connects the pictures, then when the device hears the correct answer, the game seamlessly advances to the next category. There are 50 Brainwash puzzles that users can unlock and play.
OBJECTIVE
- Google aimed to reinvent the family game night and came to Trigger to create a fun and engaging game on the Google Home HUB device
- Trigger was selected as one of a handful of “early developers” for Google’s new gaming initiative on the Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max
RESULTS
- Pushing the limits of the Google Action Builder platform and the Nest hardware, Trigger designed a game entirely playable in short sessions with only voice commands
- Brainwash features hundreds of photos that, when shown in sequence, create a visual puzzle where users shout the first word that comes to mind creating a fast-paced, easy-to-play game that is fun for all ages
- The game experience is hosted by a character named M.I.N.D., fully voiced and written to feel conversational and responsive to the users’ voice commands
